The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie 2 Group Hall in Mpuluzi to render companies on the community.

SASSA will be rendering services for instance new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer treatment enquiries, along with the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.

In a press release, the agency mentioned it's alarmed in regards to the large number of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The aim with the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to some significant number of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.

“This is due to lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there's no completely functional office committed to service the area regularly. The services level created for intervention ordeals a substantial influx of opportunity beneficiaries, that makes it challenging for your office to attend to all people who visit a service point.

“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise much more sources to allow the servicing of all clients and sassa improve access to Social Assistance services,” the agency said.
